| ******************************************* ******************************************* WELCOME BACK TO THE FALL VERSION OF WWW.DOROTHYSWEBSITE.ORG !! ************************************************************************************** Welcome to the fall/winter/spring version of www.dorothyswebsite.org! Yes - you're in the right place. The summer features are now part of the www.dorothyswebsite.org archives, but get ready for a music-filled October! For those of you who have been regular visitors to the site over the last few years, the format will now be very familiar to you. If this is your first visit, or if you have just found the site recently, welcome! The listings on this site are for free concerts and music-related events in Orange County, parts of Los Angeles County, plus some of the Inland Empire. Most of the events listed are offered to the general public or residents of certain cities free of charge. Events in clubs, bookstores, cafes, and other similar venues covered elsewhere generally are not included. What's coming soon? Fall arrives with no more rain in sight, but plenty of music. The symphony season kicks off in October, beginning with the first Rio Hondo Symphony performance in Whittier on September 30. The Rio Hondo Symphony is celebrating its 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee season this year! Community and other music festivals abound, and most of the college/university performance seasons which haven't already begun will get started. October will bring with it the end of the Fullerton Farmers Market 2007 season, but look for the start of holiday events at the end of the month! Although this is a simple, no-frills site for three seasons of the year, hopefully the full site will return again next summer. The poetry, photographs, essays, special guests and other summer features may return in June along with the regular concert information. Listings will also continue for occasional special events outside of the usually-covered cities. As has been the case since the site's inception, the listings will continue to be expanded, and hopefully in 2008 more cities will be included than ever before. ONE LAST NOTE - PLEASE REMEMBER: As always, the music at the events listed is free (though food vendors, rides and other activities found at most of the festivals and fairs are not). The site is updated weekly (usually Thursday nights), so please check back often. The preliminary October listings will be available shortly, and many October events will be added on the October 4 update. There will be no update on October 11. ALSO: Although every attempt is made to bring you the most current performance information possible, ALL SCHEDULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU CONFIRM ANY PERFORMANCE YOU WISH TO ATTEND, especially once the rainy season begins. A phone number and web address are included (if available); however, direct links are not possible from the site as it exists in this format (except for the e-mail link at the bottom of the page). If you'd like an event posted, please send an e-mail, including a name and contact phone number along with the concert information, to 4dorothyb@dorothyswebsite.org. Thanks! ******************************************* If you'd like to ADJUST THE TEXT SIZE on this page and you're using Internet Explorer, you can do the following: At the top of your computer's screen on the left, click VIEW, then TEXT SIZE. You should see the option to make the text either LARGER or SMALLER. ******************************************* ******************************************* SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 29 *******************************************ALISO VIEJO - FOUNDER'S DAY CELEBRATION. However, many of the groups and organizations sponsoring these concerts incur substantial costs in bringing them to you year after year. Donations which allow them to continue their tradition of bringing quality music to the general public at no charge are appreciated. ******************************************* ******************************************* If you have comments or questions, or if you'd like an event added to the schedule, please send an e-mail message to: | |
